WW1 Austrian Berndorfer Helmet - Imperial

A very scarce helmet complete with metal liner band and three leather liner pads. Correct canvas chinstrap which has frayed a bit and has its original fittings. Bear logo stamped on the rear skirt for the Berndorfer company . Also on the left above the is a triangular ink stamp. Most of the original brown/green paint remaining. Some wear marks due to age. This is a very good untouched example of a rare WW1 Austrian helmet 

The Berndorfer helmet was the first domestically produced steel helmet used by the Austro-Hungarian Army during World War I. Approximately 140,000 units were manufactured by the Arthur Krupp A.G. firm in Berndorf, Austria, between 1916 and 1917,
