Royal college of Physicians Edinburgh Silver Medal

An interesting medal with 11 clasps The top clasp has engraved "Floreat Res Medica" (Let the medical field flourish) The other 10 clasps are engraved with dates and names of previous recipients; 1936 Sydney Smith; 1933 G.D.Mathewson; 1926 George Gibson; 1913 Francis W.N.Haultain, 1893 Alexander James; 1872 John Smith; 1867 Daniel R.Haldane; 1836 William Brown; 1830 John Gairdner; 1822 George Ballinghall. 

The medal suspension is engraved "Sodal Med. Chir. Edinensis" MDCCCXXII (1822). The reverse of the suspension is hallmarked for Edinburgh 1927 and stamped with maker mark B&S. The medal itself has the moto *Dulce Est Desipere In Loco*  & "Hinc Sanitas" engraved around the edge with a rod and serpent in the center and two crossed ladles. The reverse of the medal is engraved "Jacobus Donavit 1927". 

Overall interesting collector's piece, well worthy of more research
