The 7th (Robin Hood) Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) was a famous British Army Territorial Force unit heavily tied to the city of Nottingham. Originally formed from volunteer rifle corps, the battalion adopted its legendary name to honor Nottingham's most famous folklore hero. Over 4,000 men served with the "Robin Hoods" during the First World War alone, with the unit undergoing massive organizational changes through both World Wars.
