The WW2 Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry (DCLI) Officers Bronze Cap Badge is a distinct piece of British military insignia worn on an officer's Service Dress (SD) peaked cap or Field Service cap. Unlike the shiny brass or white-metal versions issued to other ranks, officers' badges for active service were deliberately made of bronze or darkened metal. This non-reflective matte finish prevented enemy snipers from spotting officers in the field
