It was later re-designated as the 9th Regiment of Foot in 1751.
Evolution of Titles: In 1782, it gained a county association as the 9th (East Norfolk) Regiment of Foot. Under the 1881 Childers Reforms, it became the Norfolk Regiment.
Royal Status: The regiment was granted the "Royal" prefix on June 3, 1935, to mark King George V's Silver Jubilee and the regiment's 250th anniversary.
